This is a rare look on-board what I believe is a 500cc 2 stroke MotoGP bike at a test session in Catalunya Spain. 2003 was the last year teams would race the 2 strokes before the change to 990cc 4 strokes which began in 2002 and ended in 2006. Note during some of the corner exits the explosive top end acceleration that the 500cc 2 stroke was known for. Many riders comments were always about the top end drive these motors had. Combine that with very low weight and well you get the idea it was a handful. Of course the 990cc 4 strokes would prove to be even more powerful and faster having more manageable manners with the help of advanced electronics to help the rider apply the power to the ground more effectively.
